Program Overview

Baylor University Medical Center Advanced Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship

Welcome to the Advanced Emergency Ultrasound (AEMUS) Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) in Dallas, Texas. Our one-year training program equips fellows with the advanced hands-on skills, knowledge, and experience necessary to become leaders in emergency ultrasound implementation, management strategies, and education.

Excellence in Education and Training

Our Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship provides a comprehensive education through a structured curriculum that integrates didactic instruction, hands-on training, and advanced simulation. This approach ensures mastery of all advanced emergency ultrasound concepts as designated by the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Accreditation Council (EUFAC).

Our diverse faculty, with backgrounds from multiple prestigious institutions, bring a wealth of experience and expertise to our program. Through mentorship, research opportunities, and varied clinical experiences, we prepare our fellows for careers as academic faculty, ultrasound division directors, and leaders in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).

The Ideal Training Environment

BUMC is centrally located in Dallas, TX, the ninth-largest city in the United States. The hospital is a high-acuity quaternary care referral center, chest pain center, comprehensive stroke center, and a Level I trauma center, serving a diverse and underserved patient population with complex medical conditions.

With over 110,000 patient encounters annually, BUMC provides an ideal setting for fellows to develop expertise in advanced emergency ultrasound applications, procedural guidance, and critical decision-making using POCUS in a dynamic emergency environment.

Additionally, fellows will have the opportunity to train at the Dallas VA Medical Center, a premier facility that manages approximately 38,000 patient visits annually and ranks as the third-busiest VA hospital in the country. This advanced medical center, offering a wide range of specialized services, provides fellows with additional clinical exposure while allowing them to care for our nation’s veterans.

Preparing Future Leaders in AEMUS

Our fellowship is designed to develop future academic faculty and ultrasound directors who will advance the field of emergency ultrasound through clinical excellence, research, and education. We are committed to providing unparalleled training, mentorship, and professional development to ensure our fellows are well-equipped to excel in their careers.

We appreciate your interest in our program and welcome any questions as you explore the next step in your professional journey.
